Ninoy Aquino Day Moved to Boost Tourism

Introduction
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has made a strategic decision to reschedule the observation of Ninoy Aquino Day, originally set for Wednesday, August 21, 2024. This non-working holiday will now be celebrated on Friday, August 23, 2024. The change, formalized in Proclamation No. 665, aims to boost domestic tourism by creating a four-day weekend, aligning with National Heroes’ Day on Monday, August 26.

  • Long Weekends Boost Tourism
The extended break offers an ideal opportunity for Filipinos to explore local destinations, potentially increasing revenue for the domestic tourism sector.
